Bi-vocational Positions
available: Acoustic Guitarist
"The Stillwater Retreat" is a music ministry, which was founded in Ellensburg, Washington in 1971 as an out-growth of the Jesus People movement. Though most of its members went their separate ways long ago, Richard Pomeroy and Terry Pomeroy kept the ministry alive, performing as a duo along the west coast and in the Mid-west. The Pomeroys are now looking for an acoustic guitarist to join the group. The successful candidate will be proficient in both flat-pick rhythm playing and Travis picking. Vocal talent and ability to play 5-string banjo is a plus. Applicant should live within commuting distance from Federal Way, Washington where rehearsals will be held. Successful candidates will be bi-vocational, but able to occasionally take time off for concert tours. The Stillwater Retreat has its roots in Christian folk music, and is now capitalizing on the resurgence of the popularity of folk style and acoustic music. Rev. Pomeroy is reviving many older Christian folk songs and writing updated arrangements. The Stillwater Retreat has an evangelistic purpose. While it frequently performs for churches, Christian organizations and the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship of America, concerts are being planned for concert halls and performing arts centers where the attempt will be made to reach out to members of the population at large. Successful candidates will be competent musicians, owning their own instruments. They will be born-again, Spirit-filled believers of deep Christian conviction, having the desire to lead people to Christ. Compensation is commensurate with the success of this ministry.
